CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has announced that the Board Examinations 2014 for Classes 10th and 12th will begin from 1st March 2014. The detailed date sheet will be available on the official CBSE website from last week of December 2013. The board exams in 2013 also began on the same date, that is, 1st March 2013 for both Class 10th as well as Class 12th.

Last year Class 12th board exams stretched from 1st March 2013 to 17th April 2013. In the same year, around 9.4 Lakh students registered for the CBSE Class XII examination, which was an increase of 15.91% from the number of registered students in 2012. The pass percentage amongst the number of registered students has also seen an increase from that of 80.19% in 2012, to 82.10% in 2013.  Last year the results for CBSE board exams were declared on 27th May 2013.
    
In 2013 the Class 10th board exmas also commenced on 1st March 2013 and lasted till 15th March 2013. Class 10th also saw an increase of 6.67% in number of student registrations and 12.5 Lakh students registered for CBSE Class 10th board exams. Pass percentage amongst the students also rose from 98.19% to 98.76%. Last year the results of Class 10th board exams were declared on May 30, 2013. 

CBSE IS One of the most popular boards across India with around 14,663 schools affiliated to it.

JEE Main 2014: CBSE to Conduct Exam Online in 235 Cities

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) through the online mode in 2014. The exam is to be conducted in 235 cities in India. This shows that almost one in every three urban centers is going to be an online test center for the JEE Mains exam in 2014.

This initiative is being undertaken by CBSE to ensure that candidates especially female candidates do not face any inconvenience while appearing for the exam.

Apart from these centers, there are 85 other towns or cities which will conduct the exam offline (pen and paper mode). This has been done because it was noticed that for the first two years, the online entrance exam option did not see many takers. The online option for sitting through the entrance exam was introduced in 2012. In the same year, only 1.25 lakh students chose to appear for the examination through this online mode. The successive year, 2013, a meagre 1.75 lakh students of the total 14 lakh chose the online mode.  However, CBSE officials claim that if there are many centers for online JEE Main entrance and if the students feel that it is closer to home then this trend will definitely pick up. 

In 2013, the single JEE examination was broken into two parts, that is, JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The primary difference between the two is that CBSE conducts JEE Main as an entrance exam for NIT (National Institutes of Technology), IIT (Indian Institutes of Technology) , other CFTIs (Centrally Funded Technical Institutions) and some other institutions. JEE Main is also CBSE's eligibility examination for the JEE Advanced. So much so that, only the first 1.5 lakh candidates who clear the JEE Main qualify to appear for the JEE Advanced. The importance of JEE Advanced is that one needs to clear this common entrance exam to gain admission to undergraduate programs of ISM Dhanbad (Indian School of Mines Dhanbad) and IIT (Indian Institutes of Technology).

JEE Main 2014's online application process commenced on November 15, 2013 and will continue till December 26, 2013. To submit your application online you can visit JEE Main 2014 website .

As per a directive by CBSE the tentative dates for JEE Main 2014 is April 6, 2014 (on offline mode) and this examination will be held in two time slots that is 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and then from 2 pm to 5 pm. The online examination is to be held on multiple days which are April 9, April 11, April 12 and April 19. The results are expected to be announced on May 3, 2014

General Awareness with special reference to the Banking industry:
The general awareness exam tests your knowledge of the banking industry, its recent developments, past and present events and socio economic developments. Important topics include banking system of India, financial planning, money, budgeting, national and international organizations etc. The best way to prepare is by staying up-to-date with current affairs. Also focus on reading specific information on the banking industry. Almost entirely based on recent events, it's important that you have knowledge on recent significant events. 

Computer Knowledge:
The computer knowledge exam is highly scoring as most of it can be prepared from a textbook. Basic questions on computer components, structure, network, languages, internet etc are common. As specified in the eligibility criteria, school level computer knowledge is enough. However it's important not to be overconfident and skip on studying.
